Students gain a broad understanding of a multitude of business concepts. This major is designed to provide students with pathways to further post-secondary studies at various universities in Alberta. Please consult with an Academic Advisor if you are planning to transfer to one of Bow Valley College's many post-secondary partners.
This is a two-year (four term) diploma program. A full course load is five courses per term. Students may elect to take fewer courses each term; however, it will take longer to complete the program.
Core courses are available both in class and online. Students will choose nine courses from any of the Business Administration majors to complete the major specific courses.
Co-operative education won't be available for new students starting in Fall 2021 or later. We are working on new and innovative Work Integrated Learning options for future students!
Co-op provides eligible Business Administration Diploma students with an opportunity to gain work-related experience for one term through an assisted job search. Co-op offers students relevant experience to boost employment opportunities, develop professional skills and experience, network with employers, and earn money.
The Co-op Work Term process aligns with the competitive nature of job search. To be accepted into the Co-op Program, applicants must meet all eligibility criteria and follow the application process. Candidates are responsible for demonstrating a high level of professional and program expectations. Not all students accepted into the Co-op Program are guaranteed a Co-op Work Term position.

The evolution of the modern workplace, increasing competition, and rising consumer demands has forced employers to seek out motivated candidates with critical thinking and decision-making capabilities who also possess leadership potential.
If you have prior work experience or have taken courses comparable to those required under this program at another institution, you may be eligible for Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) or transfer credit.

Business diploma graduates with a major in general studies have a broad understanding of a multitude of business concepts and applications. Graduates typically find employment as management trainees, general managers, assistants, managers, sales representatives, sales managers or personnel officers in retail, financial services, insurance, human resources, not-for-profit, sales, and marketing industries.
